Meet Our Horses

At the heart of the Honor the Horse Foundation are the horses themselves, each with a unique story, a resilient spirit, and a voice worth honoring. These are the souls we're here for. The ones who have been overlooked, misunderstood, or failed by the systems that were supposed to protect them.

Here at the Foundation, we offer them safety, healing, and a second chance…on their own timeline, and in their own way.

Lainey

7 year old grade mare

Lainey came to us after surviving heartbreaking neglect and abuse. She was tied to a tree, starved, and beaten before being rescued by her previous owner. Despite her past, Lainey is incredibly gentle, kind, and patient…a true testament to the resilience of the equine spirit.

She is currently in a tailored rehabilitation program to address both physical and emotional healing, and she's showing us every day how much she's ready to trust again.

Finn

9 year old Thoroughbred gelding

Finn is our newest arrival with a kind eye and a sensitive heart. He was brought to us by a compassionate owner who wanted to ensure he landed in the right hands. Finn is working through some anxiety and physical rehab needs, and will begin a gentle, patient restart under saddle when he’s ready.

We’re excited to see who he becomes as he learns that human hands can mean safety, not pressure.

Delta

20 years old, Thoroughbred Mare

Delta arrived with deep-seated fear and uncertainty. In her early days at the Foundation, she was too afraid to even leave her stall. She was overwhelmed by the open space, the other horses, and the world around her. Her anxiety was intense and heartbreaking, and we knew right away that her healing would take time, patience, and unwavering compassion.

Today, Delta is a different horse.

She now lives peacefully in a herd, grazing in wide open pastures and finding safety in the rhythm of her days. She has blossomed into a soft, gentle presence…still sensitive, but no longer scared. Delta is now a permanent sanctuary horse who will never have to move again. This is her forever home, and she knows it.

Her journey is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we honor the horse’s pace, and let healing unfold on their terms.
